Bachelor Degree Programs in Science
Scientists have been responsible for many of the most progressive and important discoveries in the history of medicine, agriculture, and energy production. And it is bachelor's degree programs in science that give future scientists the foundation for their research and exploration.
You can get a bachelor's degree in science through a three- to four-year degree program from an online institution. During your studies, you'll focus on experimentation techniques, recording of data, and interpretation of results.
Online bachelor's degree programs in science enable you to continue your education while building career experience. To prepare for the curriculum, courses in all basic sciences are recommended, along with a solid mathematics foundation. While an advanced degree is preferred for most research positions, a bachelor's degree in science is often sufficient for applied-research slots.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, scientists held about 77,000 jobs in 2004, with over half that number working for federal, state, and local governments. Federal scientists are primarily associated with the Departments of Agriculture, Interior, and Defense, and for the National Institutes of Health.
Median annual earnings of scientists were $68,950 in May 2004. And while no degree program can guarantee a position or salary, bachelor's degree programs in science are a great first step toward a career.
