Online MBA - Knowledge & Learning Management Specialization
Every organization is composed of individuals with different strengths and expertise, and the most successful businesses know how to make individual knowledge available to the group. The more effectively a business can function within a collaborative framework, the more likely that business is to draw from individual successes and to prosper as a whole. For this reason, the knowledge & learning management MBA is swiftly becoming a popular MBA specialization for students with aspirations to work in large, established companies.
The knowledge & learning management MBA takes the general MBA a step further, offering courses that support and educate students in the specialized field of knowledge management. A typical knowledge management course might include the following topics:
- Information security
- Media management
- Organizational memory management
- Database management systems
Careers in knowledge management are as varied as the management field itself. The larger a business is, the more likely it is to require an information officer, operations coordinator, data analyst, or data/information coordinator. Chief information officers, who are responsible for the entire technological direction of a corporation, are among the highest-paid workers in business; the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that chief executives earned an average of $140,350 in 2004.
Though no degree program can guarantee a career or particular salary, the knowledge & learning management MBA can be a smart career move in a field where employees typically prefer or require education. In a knowledge economy such as the one the U.S. is developing, the demand for managers can only grow.
