A Tradition of Excellence
Founded as a seminary for Swedish Baptist immigrants in 1871, Bethel combined with a secondary academy in 1914, which later became a junior college. In 2004, the institution was reorganized as Bethel University, reflecting its 50-year liberal arts tradition and broad graduate offerings. Today, Bethel awards certificates, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. In certain degree programs, students may qualify for licensure in education, social work, nursing, marriage and family therapy, and counseling psychology.
Bethel University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Association of Theological Schools. With a student-teacher ratio of 15:1, Bethel students have every opportunity to work closely with distinguished faculty who are experts in their fields and are committed to mentoring their students, in faith and in education.
